First Baptist is located in the heart of downtown Shawnee, Oklahoma. A caring community of baptized Christians who are bonded together to worship God in Jesus Christ.
Welcome to the First Bapist Shawnee website. It has been a hope from the beginning of this project that it would one day become a primary tool of communication for First Baptist Church. In addition to communication within our own family of faith, it is also an additional way of relating to the rest of the world. Sounds a bit heady doesn't it. But the truth is, we are now in front of the world in a new format...for us at least.
Impressions, first or otherwise, always count. They count for us as believers as we engage a world not always understanding of, nor interested in, matters of faith in Jesus Christ. They count for us as Christian parents with children watching us and forming opinions about this thing we call "being Christian." They count as we relate to husbands and wives who daily go about strengthening the bonds of relationship or of diminishing them.
This website will hopefully be about making meaningful impressions...on our church, on our community, on newcommers to Shawnee, on us as individuals and families who call FBC home.
However this venture may be serving you as you visit, we hope it will make a good impression. And a final word...when Christ came to the world over 2,000 years ago to give body and hand to the work of God, He established and commissioned the Church to be His flesh in places where the touch of His love was the only hope. It just so happens that place is here. That place is everywhere. We hope to have the opportunity to be Christ to you and to one another soon.
